St. Dunstan’s Foundation is proud to fund worthy projects in the community that are directly connected to or aligned with the ministry and outreach goals of our church.
St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church is well known for local and global outreach and ministry.
Grants from the Foundation are funded by the wise investment, management, and use of donations from generous individuals who made legacy gifts to the Foundation to ensure St. Dunstan’s ability to continue our commitment to serving others as instruments of God’s peace.
The St. Dunstan’s Foundation bylaws are broad regarding grants. The Foundation can support any legal non-profit entity and can support church capital campaigns. However, the by-laws specifically prohibit grants to support the parish’s operating expenses.
It is amazing what many hands and a few dollars can do. For example:
The many dedicated people devoting their time and effort by feeding hundreds for a few pennies per person per day at St Andre’s in Haiti and educating hundreds of students; or making sure migrant field laborers have adequate food and clothing to care for their families; or providing food and shelter to the needy (now expanded to include women) for about $4.00 per person, per night. A grant to the Read to Me Project is helping to break the cycle of family low-literacy in many Salinas Valley communities where 7 out of 10 students start kindergarten behind. In fact, most never catch up and continue to struggle with reading and writing through high school.
After careful consideration, your board elected to make the following grants in 2021:
- $7,000 for St. Andre’s School Lunch Program
- $4,000 to Outreach Unlimited for I-Help Monterey Bay ($3K) & St. Dunstan’s I-Help Program ($1K)
- $10,000 to Nancy’s Project for food to feed Salinas Valley farm workers
- $5,000 to the Read to Me Project for the South County school literacy program and parent/childcare provider training
